ALIGN 2020 training and development conference recap

ALIGN is BizLibrary’s annual training conference that brings together learning professionals and practitioners across industries to discuss best practices and trends within training, employee development, and learning technology. While every year of ALIGN is jam-packed with breakout sessions, keynote presentations, and networking opportunities, this was the first year the event was held entirely online!

Despite all the curve balls 2020 has thrown at us, we’re proud to announce ALIGN 2020 was a success! This year we welcomed over 500 individuals to our virtual event to learn industry best practices, share ideas, and engage with like-minded training professionals.

Recap of the Events

Day one of ALIGN included informative technology refreshers presented by BizLibrary staff. These product-focused sessions were well attended and helped BizLibrary clients refresh their knowledge on topics such as games and playlists, reporting, content application, and more.

Day two of ALIGN kicked off with a welcome address from BizLibrary’s Chief Customer Officer, Shannon Kluczny, followed by keynote presentations, insightful breakout sessions, and the presentation of The BizLibrary Awards. This year we recognized winners in Best New Program Launch, Best Use of Learning Technology, Best Measured Results, Training Professional of the Year, and Program of the Year.

Congratulations to all award nominees and winners!

Trends for L&D in 2021

The delivery of our ALIGN conference certainly experienced changes due to the pandemic, and there couldn’t have been a better time for one of our keynote presentations, Trends for L&D in 2021, presented by Craig Weiss. Craig is the CEO and lead analyst for The Craig Weiss Group and the founder of FindAnLMS. Craig is identified as one of the most influential people in the world for online learning and the most influential in the world for learning systems.

During his keynote presentation, Craig discussed the latest trends in content and learning systems that will impact training programs and industry professionals.

Craig honed in on digital transformation and the power of embracing new technology. He emphasized the importance of embracing digital transformation and the downside for those who choose to stay constant. While the heart of this L&D trend seems to directly relate to our current reality, these ideas are here to stay in a post-pandemic world.

One of the most important benefits you can provide to your employees as an organization is personal and professional development opportunities. This is and will continue to be one of the determining factors for employee success and employee retention.

Craig explained if your company is only providing compliance training, that’s not going to cut it in 2021.

As training program managers, it’s crucial to provide high-quality content that is personalized and focuses on knowledge expansion for employees.

Craig also stressed online learning should be learning for everyone. Whether you’re a white-collar or blue-collar worker, employees of all organizations and positions value growth opportunities.

If you want to hear about these trends in detail again or if you missed the session, register for the on-demand version of this keynote presentation!

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and made ALIGN 2020 a success – we’re excited to see you next year for ALIGN 2021!
